January 9th will be a bittersweet date for The Thrilling Adventure Hour, as we bid farewell to M Bar, our home for nearly five years. M Bar gave us an opportunity back in March of 2005, when Acker & Blacker (along with founding “WorkJuice Players” Paul F. Tompkins, Paget Brewster, Marc Evan Jackson, Mark Gagliardi, and Dave (Gruber) Allen) sought to put on a staged-show in the style of old time radio… which wouldn’t be on the radio. M Bar immediately felt like home. The red velvet booths, the clinking of drinks, the intimacy of the setting all combined to give us a proper “outside of time” feel. It will be sad to leave.
BUT! It is with great excitement and anticipation that we announce our move to Largo at the Coronet! Largo has a great reputation as the place for alternative comedy and music in Los Angeles, and we are proud to be joining their stable of acts which have included The Paul F. Tompkins Show, Kevin Pollak & Friends, the Naked Trucker & T-Bones Show (check out Andy Paley on drums in this clip!), and so much more.
If you haven’t been to Largo at the Coronet, you’re in for a treat. It’s a 250-seat theater in the heart of Hollywood, with an expansive stage, theatrical curtain, a small bar in its “Little Room” for the after-party (and the before-party), and many more thrilling developments!
We’ll send out more details in coming months, but in the meantime, there are still a few reservations left for our final M Bar show—January 9th, 2010—and you can get them by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
